Gold Prospecting
Historically
Gold was discovered in 1861 and a quartz crushing plant serviced the Isis and Greenock mines until 1872. The population peaked at between 7,000 and 10,000 but later fell to about 250. Our hamlet now has that polulation.
Facilities
A series of free camping sites, exceptional recreation reserve with well maintained electric BBQs and shaded playground also catering for disabled kids, clean toilets and safe environment with nearby resevoir make our town a green belt oasis.
Pastoral
Industry
Cropping and livestock have always flourished here. A flour mill operated in the town for decades. Sheep, enriched hay and other cropping, expertly managed now support our hamlet's sustainable population.
